Northern Bear recognises that high standards of health and safety are essential for any successful business and has its own team of safety professionals (Northern Bear Safety Ltd) in place to achieve this.

The Northern Bear Safety team has worked hard to developed bespoke, documented safety management systems for each company in the group, designed to ensure that relevant health and safety legislative requirements are identified and procedures are in place to comply with them.

We have a proactive approach to health and safety and ensure that all company employees, from the top down, have the correct training for the tasks that they are expected to perform and that this training is regularly refreshed.

Our companies fully understand the importance of planning, and all projects are thoroughly risk assessed so that potential safety hazards or issues are identified and suitable controls are arranged and in place before work starts. We appreciate that we have a knowledgeable and experienced workforce and ensure that we continually consult with them to take their views into account when developing safe systems of work.

The Northern Bear Safety team supports each company beyond the planning stage and can often be found performing safety inspections to ensure that the best health and safety conditions exist, not only on all our sites, but in all our buildings and across all our businesses.

We have several key performance indicators that we use to measure our safety performance and all have demonstrated continuous improvement year on year.

Our commitment to health and safety management has been recognised by various industry bodies, and where relevant, our companies have been audited and accepted by third party accreditation schemes such as the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) and SafeContractor.
