The very experienced service manager of A1 Industrial Trucks Ltd has been appointed as a director. Gordon Riley joins managing director Stuart Dawson on the board of this long-established company that is part of the Northern Bear group.
Gordon started at A1 Industrial Trucks 20 years ago as a service engineer and was promoted to service manager in 2016. He manages a team of 11 technical staff and is responsible for maintaining the biggest fleet of fork-lift trucks for hire in North East England. His team services an average of 250 vehicles a month for customers spread from the Scottish Borders to North Yorkshire, from the Northumbrian coast to the Lake District.
Gordon is keen to train and build a technical team for the future. He said: “I want to bring in more young people. We are starting apprentices in September. With the right training we will have a succession of experienced engineers who are the future for the business.”
Managing director Stuart Dawson said: “I am delighted to welcome Gordon as a fellow director. He has made an enormous contribution to the success and development of A1 Industrial Trucks and was particularly busy during lockdown when most of our staff were furloughed.”
