Making the extra day count for a good cause

2020 is a leap year and Northern Bear is encouraging its clients, suppliers, staff, and friends to do something special with the extra day.

Northern Bear is sponsoring a Leap Year Ball to raise money for local charity St Oswald’s Hospice, which provides care and support to people with incurable conditions and their families.

The ball is being held at the luxurious Crowne Plaza in Newcastle on Saturday 29 February 2020. Tickets are on sale now and places are limited. Full details of how to book are on the St Oswald’s Hospice website or you can get further information by emailing

Graham Jennings, Managing Director of Northern Bear plc, said: “We are delighted to sponsor the Leap Year Ball. I’m sure it’s going to be a wonderful night and a good way for us to support a local charity that does so much to provide care and understanding to people and their families when they need it most.”

Nikki Maguire of St Oswald’s Hospice said: “At the Leap Year Ball you’ll enjoy a delicious three-course meal, music, entertainment and dancing, and the knowledge that you have spent the day well, not only by having a wonderful time, but by showing your support to nurses, patients and families at St Oswald’s Hospice.

“At St Oswald’s Hospice, we believe in adding life into days where days can’t be added to life. For us, and for the families we care for, it’s all about the unforgettable experiences, magical memories and the little things which stay with you long after the moment has passed. It’s making the very most of the time we have together, right here and right now, while we can.”
