Spread a little joy

Northern Bear company secretary Wendy Edgell and director Keith Soulsby got more involved than they expected when they visited St Oswald’s Hospice.

They were there to present the local charity with a cheque for £11,125 raised at Northern Bear’s annual fundraising golf event. They had been to St Oswald’s on previous occasions but this time the staff engaged them as volunteers in the children’s activities. Wendy and Keith rolled up their sleeves, donned aprons, and got down to the creative business of painting … and they loved it.

Wendy said: “It was wonderful to see the joy on the children’s faces, and it was a privilege to be asked to help.”

Keith said: “I have to say we had a great time. It was so good to see at first hand the big difference this charity makes to the lives of children and their families.”

Northern Bear will continue its support for St Oswald’s Hospice next year and will soon be announcing the details of a special leap year fundraising event to take place on 29 February.
